The registration deadline to take any of the three Certification Exams
(CCS, CCCA, CCPR) is June 8, 2008!
Don’t be late!
The registration application can be found here.
Remember, the CDT certificate exam, while not offered at the Regional
Conference, will be conducted in September. You can find more information
about dates and requirements here.
It’s that time of year to remind chapter members, prospects,
and professionals in the industry that registration for the National
Exam is OPEN! CSI will offer the Construction Documents Technologist
(CDT) certificate exam along with the following certification exams:
Certified Construction Specifier (CCS), Certified Construction Contracts
Administrator (CCCA), and Certified Construction Product Representative
(CCPR) at over 400 sites throughout the U.S. next year. CSI Designations
have a tremendous value to not only the exam candidate, but to the employer
and clients as well!
The CDT certificate is the first step to achieving CSI’s certifications!
The CDT Program provides a comprehensive overview for anyone who writes,
interprets, enforces, or manages construction documents. Project architects,
contractors, contract administrators, material suppliers, and manufacturers’
representatives are all realizing the advantages of being a Construction
Documents Technologists. By being able to understand and interpret written
construction documents, CDTs perform their jobs more effectively. By
understanding the roles and relationships of all participants, CDTs
improve communication among all members of the construction team.
CCS candidates are expected to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding
of the methods of contractor selection as related to the number of contracts
and the various contract types, the differences in relationships among
the parties of the construction contract in different types of contract
situations, and the different forms of contracts in regard to basis
of payment. To be eligible to apply for the CCS certification, the candidate
must have earned the CDT and within the five years prior to the CCS
examination, prepared, helped prepare, or coordinated bidding requirements
and Division 01, General Requirements, and have prepared specification
sections used on construction.
The CCCA certification program is recommended for contractors, design
professionals, engineers, facility managers, owners, and other professionals
with responsibility for executing contract documents. CCCA candidates
are expected to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the
various types of construction contracts, including how construction
contract administration is affected by each type of contract; and how
the roles and responsibilities of the owner, contractor, and A/E change
with each project delivery method. To be eligible to apply for the CCCA
certification, the candidate must have earned the CDT and should have
a minimum of two years’ experience in the construction administration
process before sitting for the CCCA exam.
The CCPR certification program is recommended for product representatives,
manufacturers’ representatives, material suppliers, distributors,
and independent representatives. CCPR candidates are expected to demonstrate
their knowledge and understanding of the significance of the decisions
made early in the facility life cycle in respect to the services, delivery
methods, and team participants to carry a project form conception to
reality. The candidate must understand contractual relationships between
participants and how they vary between delivery methods. The candidate
must also understand considerations such as time, cost, quality and
extent in project delivery. To be eligible to apply for the CCPR certification,
the candidate must have earned the CDT and must have a minimum of two
years experience in the representation of construction products, exclusive
of academic preparation.
Certification Chair Bryce P. Corbin, CSI, CDT
is pleased to announce that electronic CDT Certificate exams are being
incorporated by CSI for 2008! While Evansville will remain an Official
CSI Test Site for Certification Exams (CCS, CCCA, CCPR) in the Spring
of 2008, all CDT exams will be proctored by a local office of Thomson
Prometric, http://www.prometric.com.,
rather than by the Evansville Chapter. However, we will continue to
help you prepare for the CDT exam by holding study sessions and will
pay the early bird exam fee for the CDT certification if you pass the
exam.
